Exterior
The styling of Rodius is not only distinguished but also fusion styled. The Rodius is characterized by soft and sleek lines reminiscent of a luxury yacht. Front design of the Rodius retro styling that projects a luxurious and dynamic feel. In details, large high intensity head lamps provide superb illumination and reflect a hint of ruggedness. For side view, unique wrap-around tailgate glass transforms the MPV image into of a sporty SUV. For rear view, the rounded tailgate reminiscent of 1970s and 1980s minivans has been replaced with a light, simple and sleek European vertical type.

Swing doors like those on a saloon are easy to use and facilitate entry into and exit from the second and third row seats. The Rodius was selected for “Outstanding Industrial design” in the SUV / MPV Category for 2004 in an annual event organized by the Korean Institute of Design and sanctioned by the Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.

Interior
Know-how from the Chairman and the Rexton has been applied to create ergonomic perfection that enables the entire body to bask in elegance and ease. Separate clusters have been made for the gauges and the various warning and operation lamps. One is in the center of the dashboard, while the other is on the driver’s side, and the overall effect is beautiful to be held.

Several installation such as speedometer, fuel and heat gauge, whilst the warning and operation lamps have been placed in front of the driver. In addition, the Rodius is a genuine 7 seater with incomparable roominess and spatial efficiency to make traveling fun. The middle seats have dual armrests too for added comfort. Middle and rear seats slide forward or back for increased legroom.

Performance
Armed proven XDi270 engine which is 3rd generation common-rail direct injection diesel engine, the RODIUS is proud of the most powerful 165ps performance among its competing models. Besides, the T-Tronic 5 speed automatic transmission with Thumbs Up manual shift mode and double wishbone front & multi-link rear suspension delivers the best ride and handling with improved fuel economy as level of combined fuel consumption of 9.3l/100km (M/T,TOD) and 9.8l/100km (A/T,TOD).

SsangYong applied its advanced off-road technology to superior safety for families. The Power AWD™ (all wheel drive) system automatically vary the torque between the front and rear axle according to terrain to ensure the greatest vehicular stability. In addition, the Rodius has been equipped with double wishbone front suspension and a multilink for rear suspension which is found in high end vehicles.

Safety
Top-of-the line safety equipment is a regular part of the Rodius package. For active safety, The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) system and enhanced braking performance are pointed out. With an electronic brake-force distribution ABS for standard, the ESP system is ready to be opted for intelligent safety with BAS (Brake Assist System), ARP (Active Rollover Protection). In addition, 4 ventilated disk brakes on all four wheels are standard for braking performance. Obstacle sensors, sprayer built in wipers, electrochromatic mirror, automatic light switch, mist control, rain sensing wipers, wiper deicer, battery management system, parking brake warning; these prove that the Rodius has top-of-the-line safety equipment.

For passive safety, safer and smoother operation starts with the frame. Door locking & unlocking systems, dual airbags, door impact beams are distinctive safety features that bring greater peace of mind.

Security & Convenience
The Rodius security system is unrivalled in its class Immobilizer that has various functions such as panic alarm, escort, and burglar alarm for anti-theft, vehicle finder, automatic door functions.

The Rodius features electronically controlled full auto air conditioning, which includes an air quality control system.  This air-conditioning system has air ducts in the roof to improve heating and air conditioning effectiveness in the rear seats.  With the high-tech interior design reflecting ergonomics and human sensibility engineering, external exhaust fume isolator, foldable seat-back table, rear pocket, multi-tray and multi-purpose holder are also provide for driving convenience.
